Lesson 7 – Navigation

Sweet, you’ve made it to Navigation!

Navigation in a nutshell is about working out: where you are, where you want to go, and how to get there.

In this part you will learn how to find your position, work out the course to the place you want to go, how far it is, and how long time it will take you to drive or sail there.

There will be lots of practical excercises so you will need to get some tools in place: download charts, get a good ruler, dividers, pencil, eraser and a calculator.

Before you dowload the charts and get ready for the different lessons, have a look at a couple of videos first.

How to view the charts you have downloaded:
1. You can view them on your PC screen, however some of the scales may be a litel bit off, but should be ok.
2. You can print them out in A3 format, unless you have a big printer which does this, you can print it out in A3 on two A4 pages and tape them together.
3. You can ask me to send you a paper copy of the chart if none of the above works for you. To ship this in the mail nationally in Norway is 50,-kr including the chart and all. International shipping will be more depending on where in the world.
